Tambuah Mas Indonesian Restaurant is a halal certified Indonesian restaurant. When I 1st learnt that it’s located in Paragon, I was slightly worried about its (potentially high) price point. Luckily it wasn’t too bad. Prices average out to ~S$30+ per person.

We ordered Mas Signature Set @ S$120++ per table of 5 pax, with an additional order of satay. My favourite dish of the night is Tambuah Mas’ Tahu Telor. It was slightly embarrassing as I had to stretch over our host to snap a photo of this, before it was completely cut up & demolished!

The combination of crispy egg batter and beancurd that’s crispy on the outside & soft on the inside. Along with the sweet dark sauce is magical 👍😍

I was pleasantly surprised at how tender Tambuah Mas’ Rendang Lembu is. To me beef = tough + dry + lots of chewing. Not a fan of chewing…😶 This however, is easily shredded. And perfect with the free flow nasi puteh (white rice) 👍

Tambuah Mas’ Ayam Goreng Istimewa is crispy. Borderline dry. Luckily the accompanying dipping sauce is good! 👍

Nila Goreng is another dish carried by its sauce. I enjoyed the crispy fish dipped in thick dark sauce 👍 Our host commented that the fish wasn’t seasoned. So, you definitely need the sauce.

I am a satay lover! And it’s so hard to find good ones that justify the calories spent. I like the one at Old Airport Road Food Centre (omg they have a website!), where 30minutes waiting time is a minimum. Still waiting to complete the 100 satays challenge with my work buddies 😎

As such, I have high (preconceived) expectations of what (good) satay should taste like. Sitting there with a bias anticipation, Tambuah Mas’ satay tastes more like meat skewers (well technically satay is meat skewer). The meat is tender. Peanut sauce is nice. But something is missing…🤔 It’s just…different.

Tambuah Mas’ Udang Belado tastes average 🤷‍♀️

While their Kangkong Belacan doesn’t have strong (any) belacan (Hae Bee) taste 👎

Desserts (Es Cendol Kacang & Es Cincau Atap) are normal. Refreshing finish to a meal.
