I can’t believe it’s been a year since I wrote about our favorite Japanese Restaurant in Johor Bahru: Sushi Zento! Many things have changed since then. Besides switching the RM1 member promotion to birthday promotion, Sushi Zento also revamped their menu. Luckily our old favorites are still there, with more new dishes to explore!
1 of Sushi Zento’s new dishes is Shake Carpaccio Somen Q08 (Thinly Sliced Salmon with Thin Wheat Noodles) @ RM38. I didn’t try it. Seeing that it was a one-time order, I reckon there are other better dishes 🤭
Other better dishes like this assortment of fresh, thickly sliced sashimi. This is a combination of Shake Harasu Sashimi A16 (Salmon Belly) @ RM45 & Salmon Sashimi BB01 @ RM0. Shiok! 👍
I smell Sushi Zento’s Salted Egg Ko Ebi Karaage H05 (Deep Fried Salted Egg Baby Shrimp) @ RM20 before it landed. Even though it’s intensely fragrant, you won’t be drowning in salted egg as you tuck into the crunchy baby shrimps.
However, definitely pass this dish around for sharing or you’ll get sick of it pretty soon.
In the spirit of trying different dishes, we had Tori Teppanyaki N08 (Pan-fried Chicken, Vegetables with Garlic Butter Sauce) @ RM32. Looking at past data, this dish was RM25 a year ago 😱 If only our salary increases at the same percentage 😂
It was okay, though it tasted more like black pepper chicken. Categorized as a one-time order for me 🤭
Time to end the meal on a high note! Sushi Zento’s Robusuta Roll F04 (Lobster Roll) @ RM98 🤩 This is a new creation btw. An outstanding one!
Nods & mmm…of approval filled the table as everyone attacked the savory diced lobster meat topped on a layer of California roll (cucumber & tamago). The lobster head is filled with rice & roe too! Yummy! 👍
