A good friend recommended Li Bai Cantonese Restaurant to me, sharing that there’s a SG60 promotion, where their Peking Duck is at S$60. I was unmoved initially as Li Bai Cantonese Restaurant didn’t leave a deep impression. And my weekends were all occupied. No chance before the promotion expires end Aug 2025.

Then I heard about Li Bai’s Crystal Hor Fun with Crabmeat and Crab Roe, that’s stuffed chock-full with crab-goodness. And that Li Bai has the best Chinese food in Singapore. Oh man…how? I wasn’t hopeful, then the stars aligned right at the very last minute.

Of course, I ordered both dishes mentioned above, and left the rest to my fellow diners.

1st up, Barbecued Peking Duck 北京片皮鸭 @ S$60 (whole). It’s nice to see that it’s the chef who is carving up the Peking Duck. He’s very friendly too, as we all stared at him doing his thing.

Li Bai Cantonese Restaurant’s Peking Duck wrap is slightly different from what I had in the past. You can see that it’s translucent and pretty chewy. It took a while to get used to it, and all I hear are mmm… mmm… of approvals 👍

Next up is Deep-fried Prawn with Black Truffle 黑松露酱虾球 @ S$48. This is not in their menu, which only indicates Deep-fried Prawn with Wasabi Mayo Dressing 千岛虾球 @ S$44. We were considering a prawn dish, and the friendly server mentioned Truffle…and the rest is history 👍 “我要吃虾”

If you read my Chui Huay Lim Teochew Cuisine 醉花林品潮轩 post, you can most probably infer that I’m not really a fan of Sea Cucumber. But…Li Bai Cantonese Restaurant’s Braised 6-Head Whole Abalone with Sea Cucumber, Fish Maw, Black Whole Mushroom and Black Moss 鲍罗万有 @ S$78/person could well change that…👍

I was bracing myself for a gooey gelatin texture, but was pleasantly surprised with the hmmm…web-like honeycomb texture?

Li Bai Cantonese Restaurant’s Sauteed Sweet and Sour Pork 菠萝炒咕噜肉 @ S$32 was a crowd favourite as well 👍 “我要吃咕噜肉” abandons prawn 😛

The dish I have been waiting for all night! Li Bai Cantonese Restaurant’s Crystal Hor Fun with Crabmeat and Crab Roe 黄膏蟹焖水晶河粉 @ S$37/small. If you are a crab lover, this dish is for you. Every mouthful is filled with craaaaaab~~ 👍 It came with black vinegar, which I felt overshadowed the crab taste a little, so I just ate it as-is.

Last but not least, dessert! We were all disappointed when Spring Court discontinued their 豆沙窝饼. So even though we were all stuffed! We had to order Li Bai Cantonese Restaurant’s Red Bean Paste Pancake 豆沙窝饼 @ S$18/portion, which didn’t disappoint 👍
