Genki Sushi has been on my mind for quite a while now. Genki is our go-to for Japanese food in Singapore. It may not be comparable to higher-end Japanese restaurants, but it’s definitely value-for-money. And some of their dishes are even better than Ichiban. Genki anytime 👍
Plus, I have been talking about Genki’s Salmon Miso Soup for a while now, comparing it to Jyunzen’s Shake Miso Shiru and Sushi Zento’s Shake Ara Tama Jiru. Genki really has the best version of Salmon Miso Soup @ S$3.3 hands down 👍 The soup is thick and robust without being too salty, coupled with a generous serving of ingredients! Though the occasional fish eye may be a put off 🤭
Check out the plump prawns atop of Ebi Garlic Butter @ S$2.9 👍 Genki’s Ebi is definitely better than Sushi Zento and Jyunzen, and comparable to Nijyumaru and Warakuya.
Another thing I like about Genki Sushi is its portion size, which is just nice. Allowing us to try a bit of this and that. Like Genki’s Crispy Prawn with Yuzu @ S$5.4 and Tori Karaage @ S$4.4 👍
Even though I sometimes wish there could be more haha…just like its Salmon Kama @ S$3.3 👍
Genki’s Lobster Salad Roll @ S$4.9 is something we always order too. Love its crispy toppings 👍
And their Unagi Cheese DMZ @ S$2.9 is the best! 👍 I can’t decide whether Genki Sushi’s better or Nijyumaru’s better though 😇 But definitely better than Sushi Zento.
For me, the highlight of the meal is Genki’s seasonal item Spicy Snow Crab @ S$4.9 👍 If my taste buds serve me right, there’s crispy garlic within their chilli. Yummy~~
The lowlights for me were the following 2 dishes. Starting with Genki’s Shishamo @ S$4.4 which is average. Nothing wrong with its flavors and such. Just, not crispy enough 🤷♀️
Lastly, I tried this new dish: Ebi Kushiage @ S$3.45 because of its promotional price, and was left disappointed 👎 Its saving grace is the dipping sauce, which is quite stimulating to the taste buds.
